Grand Island Parks & Recreation to Host Arbor Day Tree Planting Event at Augustine Park
Grand Island, Neb. — The Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the City Tree Board and Gates Elementary School, will host a public tree planting event to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Augustine Park.
The event will take place on the southeast side of the park and will feature the planting of a Swamp White Oak tree, provided by the City Tree Board. Members of the City Tree Board and Parks and Recreation Department will also give a brief presentation on proper tree planting techniques.
Students from Gates Elementary School will be in attendance, and community members are encouraged to join in the celebration. The event is free and open to the public. Arbor Day is recognized annually as a time to promote the planting and care of trees, highlighting their importance to the environment and the community.
