Andy Interrupted Coming to Hastings Museum

HASTINGS, Neb., — Thirty-five years after the mysterious death of one of Hastings’ most unforgettable local celebrities, the Hastings Museum is bringing back Andy Interrupted, a onewoman show by humorist Jessica Korgie exploring the story of Andy the Goose through local
history, humor, and an unsolved mystery.

The event will take place Saturday, November 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hastings Museum.
Tickets are $25 per person, plus tax, and the show is intended for audiences 18 and older. The
concession stand will be open, and a cash bar featuring canned beverages will be available for
purchase.

Andy was no ordinary goose. Hatched in Harvard, Nebraska, in 1987 without feet, Andy found
an unlikely champion in Gene Fleming, a Hastings inventor who adopted him and fitted him
with modified size 0 baby shoes. Andy soon became a local celebrity, appearing with Fleming on
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, in PEOPLE magazine, and even receiving a lifetime
supply of shoes from NIKE.

Andy’s story took a tragic turn on October 19, 1991, when he disappeared. His body was found
in a local park the next day, but his death remains an unsolved mystery.

Korgie, Fleming’s granddaughter, brings a personal connection to the story. Through firsthand
family stories, video clips, and other visual aids presented on the Museum’s Super Screen, she
shares Andy’s rise to fame, the circumstances surrounding his death, and what followed. Korgie
was a teenager when her grandfather first received the footless goose in 1988. A humorist,
theater enthusiast, and storyteller, she also works as an interpreter for the National Park
Service.
